The problem
Several operations, no shared record.
A farm that sells direct runs field work, livestock, a market stand and customer orders at once, much of it on land with no phone signal. Each tends to get its own notebook, app or whiteboard, and someone carries what happens in one over to the others.
Daystar puts them in one system.
What we built
The land, the jobs, the market.
A map of the land
Fields, water points, roads and herds on a map of the property. The map downloads for use where there is no signal.
The day’s jobs
Jobs with steps, assigned to the crew and scheduled a week ahead. Work recorded without signal syncs when the phone is back in range.
Alerts that become jobs
High wind in the forecast, or a low reading from a fence charger, water point or feeder, creates an urgent job.
The market register
An iPad register built on Square, for card, cash and barcode scans. Each sale sends a pick ticket to a second device, where someone fills the order.
The storefront
A price board and pickup ordering from the same Square catalog. Online ordering is built and not yet open to the public.
How it works
From the map to the market.
- The day opens on the map: what needs doing, and where.
- The crew works through jobs step by step, with or without signal.
- At the market, each sale on the register sends a pick ticket to whoever is filling orders.
- Products and prices come from Square, so the register and the price board match.
